Along with being a Holistic Health Coach, I am a Certified Feng Shui Consultant, graduating in 2004 from the three-year BTB (Black Tantric Buddhist) Masters Training Program in San Francisco. The two work beautifully together. Our environment plays a key role in the health of the occupants who live there.
What is Feng Shui? Feng Shui is referred to as The Chinese Art of Placement and literally means "wind and water." It is a complex body of knowledge that seeks to promote prosperity, good health, and general well being by examining and creating a positive flow of energy in a room, house, building, garden or work environment. Sound a bit confusing?
Let's try and make this simple. Basically, it is a practice that is based on the philosophy that our homes or our environment is a reflection of what is going on in our lives. It is a mirror. The purpose of Feng Shui is to bring your home or space into alignment with who you are and what you want out of life. The idea is to find balance and harmony between the energy of the home and the occupants who live there.
As Feng Shui practitioners, we do this by working with the flow of energy (chi) in your space. We consider carefully how you arrange your rooms, how they are maintained, what items you place there, how they are positioned and their purpose.
In Feng Shui all things are energy. Even inanimate objects have certain energies associated with them. It can be good or bad depending on your feelings that are connected to them. (Hate that old couch that you inherited from a family member?)
To balance the energies in a space, we work with things like color, living energy, lighting, furniture and item placement, sound, the five elements and balancing the yin and yang. Feng Shui helps guide that energy, letting it flow freely through your home, creating a healthy balance and sense of well being.
